Journal or Transaction Codes
Transaction codes, also called journal codes, are intended to promote accurate and uniform posting transactions (e.g., charges, payments, write-offs, refunds and adjustments). Although these may vary somewhat with the type of software your ASC uses, the intent is still the same.
Maintaining uniformity in posting is necessary for obtaining accurate reports. It is important that your ASC be able to track payer types, erroneous payments and detect possible negative trends.
The following list contains some suggested odes compiled from several ASC-specific software programs. Even though your software may already have codes loaded, you can usually add to them by accessing the appropriate library.
